Tagan is a company in Germany that, in the interest of the enthusiast is a solemnly a gaming and enthusiast company that produces PSU for gaming rigs with amount of niche of features, like this 1300W variant of their PSU products, even with it other products the cases to be exact is a way that Tagan goes for recognition, with the cases going with the range of shapes and fan sizes, even the bloody names are out of this world (Diablo, Diablo plus, Black pearl, Monoliz… who makes this names!) but anyway the company goes with the ego of having top quality GAMES hardware products, that we all love to have in our lounge rooms, with the sudden gush of wind and a large power surge in the PSU.
BUT that not going to happen, really as I find out in the real product under that aluminium armour it has. With the built as great as its name (uhh…try to remember the name) with a single fan on top and modular connections present, with an amazing light show given off when you turn them on, in order to do this you have to physically screw the connectors to the PSU and in between in is the washer that will complete the circuit then aluminates into a Christmas tree like light show, really great for the festive season and the computer is already in the groove. If it is not what you are looking for, this can be a colour indicator on that modular connector is in which, like for example the red and green colour correspond with the PCIe power supplies and with the blue are the peripherals (the Molex and the floppy power connectors and also the rest are the SATA power connectors). Being a 1300Watt power rating in the Tagan PSU, I should expect a great deal of HDD’s, fans and other peripherals, like most of the high rated power supplies like the No rules power 1500Watt cannot even reach its full potential giving that makers just publicise that it is rated in a high power wattage but will never be used in that level, for most computer system only consume 450w to 550W in normal or even in load when playing Farcry 2.
For the performance is in the district is with no great achievement from the Tagan 1300, with the PSU only handling the rest of the test items, the power outage show that it barely give the motherboard 12.0V consistently, with the other 5.0V and the 3.3V going lower than expected, with the Tagan 1300, but when we relieve it with one HHD in went to a good spec show keeping the 12.0 flow in the start up and in load up. Thank fully this can handle good power outage in its half way, mark about 650 Watts. Great for the modders who want a great all value already full feature PSU, this is a treat for you, but for the performance freaks with no sense of fashion, you better start backing off and grab a corsair 1000W PSU on your way out.
