The ECS having never seen in for a while now in the end of last year, they really showed something in the beginning of the year, 2009 is going to be a hard year to be, with the financial crisis and all we have less and less time to have our time spend playing games and madding in our heart desire and more on the money that is coming in and out of the bank. So we try to look a much cheaper alternative to the new Intel’s Core 7i; even they prizes are without the reach of most enthusiast but only having a reason that you cannot wait any longer to upgrade your Intel core 2 computer into some more dangerous, in money and performance. ECS can fill the place of high end enthusiast with down to earth prizes, for within reach of some people.
The X58 chipset from Intel is having a lot of publicity for a while in the end of the year and in 2009, being one of the fast motherboard to accommodate to new Core 7i. Going with the prize in the market of about US$280 is far cheaper when you compare it with MSI and ASUS P6T which reach up to $300 to $400 for a premium one. Giving the feature of the ECS X58 are par to the rest of the competition. It still possesses the Solid state capacitors in and around the base of the board. With a black heat spreaders in the north and the south bridges and PWN’s near the CPU, with the LGA1366 socket with a black plate included to support any of those heavy CPU coolers. Plus the support of Triple Channel DDR3 memory with a capacity limits on up to 32GB, and supports of both Crossfire and SLI multiple graphics, but only in a limit of two graphics of each respective brand ATi or NVIDIA. For the other features in the motherboard it has, like the Onboard POST debugger, with also six SATA ports being controlled in the new ICH10R with usual back port outlets. To the top down view of the board as you can see it’s as basic look, with a few heat pipes running around with solid capacitors visible all over the board, overall, not to clogged up or starve of space; like example with the Gigabyte version of the X58 with its exceptional heavy and large Northbridge heat sinks.
Performance wise with the ECS X58 Black edition, with the other chipsets like the X48 or P45, gives the X58 a head start with higher scores and lower latencies, but when comparing the same chips with different brands there is little or more difference between them, a few percent there and fraction of the timing there but they are mostly the same. But when you place prize into the equation ECS is a great buy with the performance still there even at that prize.
