No question about it, NVIDIA goes all green with the 9600GT series into a much greener version with the decrease of most of the frequency and the core clock. To improve the power consumption if the already power hungry world of powerful graphics with a massive eight-pin and six-pin power connectors to just give it a spike just to wake it up. Just to compare it with the two different graphics cards from the original 9600GT. First of all in the physical appearance is the non-appearance of the six-pin power connectors in the back of the graphics when installed by keeping the power supply in the minimum us the decrease of the core frequency by a full 50MHz from its previous 650Mhz effective clock. And also a 125MHz reduction giving it a 1,500 MHz effective memory clock drastically far less form the original, and the total TDP rating of the graphics form the 90W range now down to the 60W max. Giving that the easiness of just having an original and under clock the graphics is beyond my saying that NVIDIA is seriously desperate to be in every place in every time with no effort from any of the project makers in the green zone.
NVIDIA however haven’t have any sponsors to make yet their new green version of the 9600GT, giving that they haven’t given the retail price of their own reference card they will eventually give it prize in just under the $50 dollar mark from the previous 9600GT. With all the effort that NVIDIA made to modify the 9600GT, who will be the competition for the green GT, well for a fact ATI had made recently the mid-range HD4600 series to dominate the prize war in the prize over the performance, just snuffing under $150 the 4670 is a good choice for moderate computer users and not a usual gamer freak that we see in every event where there is free prizes and hint preview of flashy games.
With the performance however it is a real fast conclusion by just trying to under-clock a 9600GT and see how bad you go in 3D mark. For the sacrifice of good clock speed you expect 5-10fsp gone in the drain. And doing even try to play Crysis in this thing, and good enough that they still waiting for sponsors you will never experience such disappointing scores; but giving back to NVIDIA with the removal of the external power source and power saving essentials for the purpose of power saving and keeping Greenpeace happy but take note that this card is not recommended to play with the high-end games of today, or just keep this in the dark of your lowly maintenance PC system.

thing of this card been an excess of green
