The NZXT comes with the HU001 case with a full body plastic and a aluminium shell so be prepared a non-vibrating and a glossy case to replace you old one but in the fact this type of case from NZXT is almost two and a half years old in metal age so this has been in highs and lows in paid review analysing. Some try to criticise the case and all of its features or admire it and give it a golden stamp of approval.
The NZXT HU001 is quite an odd name to take this case or it might be a lost in translation of the cases true intensions being a first case to go with an open wound in the side panel and showing the plastic bulk of the case is being made (not aluminium but plastic as a dampener). With also a ATX form factor defacto for all those P45 and X48 is available to handle in this case plus the front part of the case is a four 5.21in optical drive two of the 3.5in are external so if you still keep the floppy or a 5-in-1 flash ports this is a good inclusion and five one less 3.5in drive bays. Which are all removal with a touch of the button; for the case also included fans in this HU001 are two 120mm fans one is a blue LED feature and one just a low profile in the back just enough to silently cool the motherboard and the three or four HDD at the bottom quite well, but for those large 230mm fans do a better job. But this HU001 has some problems also with the 7th part of the expansion slot is the bottom of the case already so with the internal separated water-cooling blocks is a little problem to go over it and also when using large graphics cards like 9800GX2 or a 4870X2 in SLI or Crossfire in their respects is the HDD space is drastically reduced to only three of the five to give space for the power connector or the sheer length of the graphics.
Cooling capabilities of the HU001 is more with the amount of fans to flow out the hot air quickly so the two fans is kind of limited, but the active cooling to all of the components help a lot with 48 in the load temps but not going too loud and idle is 26 degrees. But when in passive cooling you have to crank the fan speed and the noise generated and having 54 degrees at load and noise level at 39dBa. More appealing to have this case with the other cases in the market today with high price in the Half and the ATS840 yes with great features but the HU001 keeps in the middle of the playing field so this can be a good choice even at this old.
