So coming up is the CPU collection, to find out the almost perfect choice of an Intel dual or a quad core processor, so the Intel as you know are the reigning champions of fast CPU’s in the market but it may be judged by the upcoming AMD Phenom II series and the new support of DDR3 memory the over-clockers memory choice. So we will going to look at the Intel Quad Q9650 the more domesticated version of the Intel extreme QX9650 processor, but still having the same clock speed of 3.0GHz and also a FSB of 1333MHz but the rather scary part is the price difference the Q9650 is merely above $500 with a kit of the OEM cooler and the QX9650 goes as high as a thousand dollars and I see no difference between them.
So we will going to check the real difference of the two of these Quads well the Q9650 as its name suggest is a quad core processor in the high range before going to the extreme series of Intel it has a core speed of 3GHz with an L2 cache memory of 12MB just enough for those information going back and forth of the CPU and board in quick succession. It still has the usual Intel technology TXT, MMX and quick execution technology as the same as the Intel extreme QX9650, but as I look even closer the CPU’s the Q9650 have laid of some of the extreme features that the QX9650 have plus the aggressive techno that extreme has used in all of the series and also the thermal deign power is raised in the QX9650 for massive gain in overclocking gave it a sure lead with some of the normal processor they have and also the price difference real does separate the men from the boys, and still by a small margin.
So the test is going to see the real difference of the CPU’s first stress and over-clocking and sure enough the extreme went well in overclocking the core frequency up to 3.9GHz in water-cooling and in the Q9650 have some problems but went in over 3.7GHz as far as I could go for. But the stock thermal test says that the Q9650 run much cooler over the QX9650 going that the extreme is having a active side to itself doing much more that it suppose to do more in improving performance, as I would say. But much of the test the QX9650 come out on top of all multimedia and multi-threading apps followed by the Q9650 and in gaming shows really mo difference in frame rates so the graphics is a real dependence. But having the extreme priced very high at the moment the Q9650 looks more of a bargain name as I would say just the same 9650 but only $400 sale price.
