While we indulge ourselves over powered and overpriced hardware, we always forget the one thing that makes these products cool, is a little of heat piping and a large 120mm fan attached to it. While there about three thousand types of coolers, in the market, water coolers, passive cooling and fan cooling. Some yield great results on dispensing heat out of heat producing silicone, especially the water coolers, with their minimal heat soak, that return to its idle load temperature with ease, to quiet coolers, who don’t use those large fans and bulky water pipes, just the sound of wind passing by silently cooling in the breeze, but not recommended to super or over-clocked hardware.

While the Gigabyte version of the tower coolers are more of a surprise to me, with their angle of elevation of the fan, the Gigabyte G-power 2 is the ultimate cooler that doesn’t use the design to appeal but to really cool the CPU and also cool the nearby MOSFET. The G-power is a new revolution design in the cooling of CPU’s with a large 120mm fan and connected to it is the full aluminium body, which adds up to the weight of the thing and that can really strain the CPU connectors, while it has an external connector’s for Intel sockets, in AMD however, you don’t need what Intel needs to hold this thing, but the installation is a bit of a hassle with its large form factor and a heavy heat sink combination, but not as hard as a water-cooling combination. But while you connect it you can see a reflective mirror in the facing piece of the cooler to the CPU that is not a thing to look at but to have the cooler an efficient surface transfer of heat. While it is so shiny it has an intention to have a protective film to keep out dust and wandering hands from it.

Enough of the intro, we want to find out the performance of the gigabyte, well the G-power has a good performance on heavy load by just keeping the temperature to 49’C, about 20’C cooler than the standard OEM coolers, good for over-clocking, while this thing can’t beat the water-coolers which can cool down to 45’C and 42’C in heavy load. But water-coolers do tend to be almost $197 expensive than other coolers, while the G-power 2 isn’t out yet, Gigabyte just keep the price in the low, or below water-coolers, the G-power can be an attractive buy. I have seen reviews that never tell the price of future product coming up, for those price conscious, try to wait for a month or so to see the price, or can’t wait there are good products that can perform the same as this one.
