MSI has just announced a new breed of gaming laptops and are powered by the latest Intel Centrino 2 processors with the same processors who made the Intel E8500 famous as the dual core favourite to use and also the use of the new physical fabrication process of 45nm in silicon. But with being a laptop version not a desktop alternative the MSI GX720 laptop, we could expect anything from this.
Sporting a NVIDIA Geforce 9700M GT graphics we should not expect any real gaming and very fast performance from these mind to high end graphics card from NVIDIA and definitely not a Crysis user but with 2.4GHz processor speed we could take as much as three adobe apps running simultaneously without the problem of lag and frequent hangs in the computer when loading and saving large amount of the files. Also the 4GB of RAM and 320GB of HDD storage keep it with the league for some budget type gaming laptops.
With design offering include a full featured keyboard with a number pad attached to it, 4-in-1 speaker set up but not as bad as when you go with the ASUS G71 laptop and the MSI alternative only cost as half as much as it suppose to be. With more in the touch and feel spec it looks and feels relatively light for a gaming laptop and also smooth in the edges so bumping it is not a real problems just the annoyance of breaking any mechanical parts of the HDD and also cool feature of on the fly over-clocking, this is an already set clock so I could just give you 30% more clock speed and double the power consumption so you better watch out the power percentage of the laptop in mind.
Most of the test includes raw processor performance and decoding and encoding timings and latencies, Media’s applications like in Photoshop or ITunes.
