Most of our anticipation, we are going to see another graphics roundup with the likes of the new mainstream graphics from NVIDA, like the new graphics card coming from the ATI side of the neighbourhood is the new 4890 graphics solution by bridging the gap between the more high performance graphics single graphics card like the 4870 to the dual core behemoth the 4870X2 and the new big thing the 4850X2.
It appears that NVIDIA has been paying attention to these plans, and has, in standard fashion, been readying a response.
It appears the response is going to be a GTX 275 video card. According to Fudzilla, the new card is going to have the same amount of stream processors as the GTX 280 and GTX 285 does (240), but it will have a 448-bit memory interface. In some ways, the GTX 275 appears to be like a single-GPU O/C’ed version of the hard-to-find-in-stores GTX 295.
Fudzilla believes the card will sell for around $250 USD, and will be available in mid-April. But that’s not the worry about this graphics card with the new Geforce 275, deep inside the gossip channel we heard that NVIDIA is preparing a GeForce GTX 275. The product would merely be a faster clocked GTX 260 SP216 (at least that is the rumor). Early speculation makes us think that the core clock frequency of this product would be 650 MHz (576 standard) with a 1100 MHz memory clock (1000 standard), we do not have any numbers on the shader domain though. But assume the normal and do some quick math and you’ll end up with 10-15% additional performance, bringing it actually close to the GeForce GTX 285 performance wise.
On the other side of the scope, the latest rumor on the Radeon HD 4890 release date we last heard is April 6th. We also think that the HD 4890 will not be able to beat the GeForce GTX 285 performance wise. And this is why NVIDIA would launch the GTX 275 shortly after that product, to counteract ATI’s move.
AMD is on the course of releasing a new line of high performance products based on its upcoming RV790 graphics processor. The high-end single GPU SKU, Radeon HD 4890 is expected to be competitive with NVIDIA’s GeForce GTX 260 (216 SP). NVIDIA on the other end of the field, is planning a retaliation to the RV790. The GPU giant is carving out a new SKU based on the 55 nm G200b: GeForce GTX 275.
But the GTX275 is going to be another graphics sight in many of the graphics line up of the GTX series, I though I would ever see the end of the GTX series, rather than the look of another series, maybe another GTX+ series that will support now the DX11 from Microsoft for the new detailed gaming experience, but we have going see another card which can be an annoying choice when it comes to mainstream card between the most powerful.
