Computer Gaming Hardware

Reviews, Ratings, and More ™

People use keyboards and mouse to place in command and play games at the dawn of computers, now in the 21st century we use joysticks, steering wheels and, even head sets, just to show off their stuff, now there is a hardware than you can show off with and it is the Logitech G35 Steering wheel. And as you know it is the G-range of Logitech accessories for your computer like the G15 keyboard and the G11 mouse, which are dedicated to the gamers in mind.

In the first impressions of the G35 is the wheel, which has a leather trimmed wheel for a soft feel when steering, and has gear shifters in the rear of the wheel, like those in the Rally car racing, and the red buttons there are basically CRLT+ALT+DEL combinations, just kidding, but they are really hand brake or in some games boost or NOS in some NFS games (The abbreviations are Need for Speed). Also it has a 900degrees rotational of both left and right for a more real feel of turning on corners, if you want to compare it to generic brands, Logitech really step up the authenticity of realism on their products especially this one. Moving along is the gear shift and the costumier panel, in which gives you an option for a conventional 6 gear shifter or a up and down shifter which is called a sequential shifter and the red buttons are the setting customize for a specific game, but default the software will do it for you but you can override the software and do in manually, and has a 12 programmable buttons. Tri-pedal are basically came from the manual transmission, the clutch, brake and the gas, and has also resistance when pressing those pedals, which makes a realistic feel when stopping or doing a full throttle.

As we tested this baby for a ride in Need for Speed Pro Street, the steering here is flawless; it makes cutting corners a breeze, which Logitech replicate beautify the steering wheel dynamics, and are almost alike to a conventional car. Pedals here is a comfortable fell and a solid frame work, the shift is the only hassle here is that I am more familiar on Automatic transmission than a Manual, but the response of the shifts are excellent.

Just to sum it up, Logitech have made a solid and precise instrument, as you compare to other major product, they have sluggish steering dynamics and sometimes faulty shift changing. Really Logitech are credited to precision instruments, and you would ask yourself how much? Well, bluntly it is US$200, which is not bad for a high-end gaming hardware PC console for its features over cost. I will recommend it anyone who are racing fanatics.

I want to set up something like that at home.

  2. I’ve got the Logitch G25 at home and it is awesome. My only gripe is that it only works with PC, PS2 and PS3. No support for XBOX 360. Microsoft is a cruel beast.
