Xigmatek in a rather amazing company that goes over the book when it comes to Aftermarket coolers for any type of CPU you can think of (except those that are really old) with the more of the Intel them of the Air cooled heat-sink, the Red scorpion is a new type of right angled air cooling system with the use of full Aluminium funs and with three U-shaped heat-pipes to spread the heat form the CPU to the 24-standard fins giving six heat-pipes able to spread the heat around and the red LED fan blow the heat away and the process starts all over again.Today is the day and I have a pair of coolers from Xigmatek that feature a 120mm fan. Like the Noctua, Nexus and SilenX, Xigmatek is dedicated to providing silent cooling solutions and the Red Scorpion S1283 is no exception. Later this week we will turn our attention to the Xigmatek HDT-S1283, a similar product to what we are looking at today, but without the red fan blades and LED lighting.

With the heat-sink for the CPU, the red scorpion includes a cool spoiler in the back that blows air (or hot air) to the surrounding copper heat-sinks in your board, well it does sort of help, while the CPU is running cool. With Plastic pegs to fit in only a Intel LGA775 socket, wit the convenience of having a cooler that goes for one, is sometimes a problem. With the repeated removals of the cooler may further worn out the plastic pegs connecting the Cooler to the board, for those people who change frequently they CPU’s for an upgrade you wouldn’t use the Intel stock CPU Pegs, which are rather frail.
But for the Intel buyer who is happy with the CPU he has and a fan of Dual core, this may be for you. With a nice performance on cooling a Dual core processor but having a noise problem with 53.5dBA under load, we tried out to cool a pre-overclocked Quad core and showed that it has some trouble to cool it right down, with a load temp of about 69.3degrees you would get annoyed with the added noise of the cooler.
With the Xigmatek having innovative products to amaze the average user, but with us in Atlantisgamers, this may be a good product to be up, with the plus of low price of the cooler, with acceptable noise and temp loads, and a quick heat transfer to the CPU to the cooler with direct contact to the heat-pipes. With the use of dual cores in your mobo this can be a cooler for you and looks appealing when lit up but usability par with the goods and the bads.
